High Assurance Protective Search


These search courses are designed for personnel who plan and conduct all aspects of search. Whether it is counter terrorist, criminal activity or part of an asset protection group or a security team who carry out random or specific searches as part of their general duties, this will include the planning and search of persons, vehicles, buildings, ships or venues. Search items could range from stolen goods, drugs, weapons, explosive bombs or other items that may present a danger.

 

Terrorist, Criminal and Other Threats

  • Methods of attack and other methods - Methods terrorists and criminals use to commit the crimes
  • Telephone threats and responses - Used to cause fear and disruption and graded response to the threat
  • Terrorist and criminal resources and other threats - Legal, illegal and homemade resources used to commit the crimes
  • Components of improvised devices - Understanding the basic components of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and how they are used in the construction of an IED
  • Concealment of hides - The tactics used and employed by criminals and others to preserve their resources and the general principles used

 

Search Planning Considerations

  • Standard search procedures - Threat assessments and the rule of law
  • Persons - Constraints and methods used to search persons
  • Vehicles (Light) -  Condition of entry and exit to a site or secure location
  • Vehicles (Commercial) - Condition of entry or exit to a secure site
  • Vehicles (Defensive VIP) - To ensure the vehicle has not been tampered with or anything has been attached to the vehicle
  • Vehicle (Stop Procedures) - As part of an intelligence operation the level of search will depend on the threat level
  • Buildings (Item recovery) - The planning, entry, search and exit of item recovery searches
  • Buildings (Protective) - Ensure a secure environment for the VIP or Client
  • Motorways - Identify vulnerable points on routes and the method of attack used and the procedures to combat the threat

  • Areas - Location hides in rural and urban areas
  • Boats - Methods of searching boats or ships as part of a protective or offensive operation
