City & Guilds (1892) & Highfield (HABC) Level 2 Award in Security
The safety of persons, objects and property is the main objective of a Security Officer.
However, it is now also recognised that the Security Officer has a customer service role to play and has the opportunity and responsibility to create a good first impression of the company that they represent. Manned guarding covers a wide and varied range of duties requiring well trained and qualified Security Industry Authority (SIA) licensed Security Officers to take on the responsibilities associated with their role.
The recognised Security to Practice in the Security Industry qualification consists of three units:
- Roles & Responsibilities of a Security Officer
- Communication
- Conflict Management
Assessment is through three multiple choice questionnaire papers (MCQP).
The duration of the Award in Security is 30 hours over a 4 day period.
Applicants will need to take the relevant modules for the sector in which they wish to work or train, as shown in the table below, and also be required to obtain a Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence on successful completion of the module.
